Month: May 2013

May 30-31, 2013. Perm. Russia Internet Conference "Russian language between Europe and Asia".

An international Internet conference was held in Perm at the end of May as part of the humanitarian forum of the same name. The central event of the conference was two plenary sessions (on May 30 and 31), which were held in the format of video bridges with remote locations in six dozen Eurasian countries — from Reykjavik to Jakarta. In addition to the participants at the main venue in Perm, where about 200 people from 20 countries gathered, about 1.5 thousand people from all over the Eurasian continent took part in the Internet conference.

Among the participants in Perm were O. I. Arshba, deputy of the State Duma of the VI convocation, Senators A. A. Klimov and I. M.-S.Umakhanov, Head of Rossotrudnichestvo K. I. Kosachev, the famous TV presenter S. B. Brilev, as well as specially invited foreign participants — Alexander Alexandrovich Pushkin and Maria Madeleine Durnovo-Pushkina (the last direct descendants of Alexander Pushkin) and Dmitry de Koshko (great-grandson of Perm Governor I. F. Koshko).

All participants discussed online the importance of developing the Russian language as a language of international communication that helps Eurasian integration. Anyone could follow the progress of the conference, as everything was broadcast online on the organizers’ websites. It is noteworthy that on the second day, Russian cosmonauts Fyodor Yurchikhin and Pavel Vinogradov got in touch with the participants directly from space — from the International Space Station, who noted that the first language spoken in space was Russian.
